Empty Room

"Empty Room, Kolmanskop, Namibia" - A bathtub lies adrift in a sea of sand—off-kilter, weathered, and quietly profound. In Empty Room, captured in the soft hush of morning light, colour brings new voice to this haunting scene from Kolmanskop’s forgotten past. The pastel green walls, worn white ceilings, and fractured window panes speak to a beauty once held and now surrendered to time. Here, amidst Namibia’s most iconic ghost town, the desert has not merely entered but settled in.

Once a flourishing diamond-mining settlement in the early 1900s, Kolmanskop rose rapidly with European ambition. Its lavish interiors and imported luxuries were symbols of permanence. But when the diamonds waned, so too did the people—leaving only the desert to reclaim what was built. In this image, a room once meant for private renewal now lies still, its silence echoing louder than any human trace. The bath, long separated from water, is now grounded in sand—symbolic of thirst, displacement, and spiritual yearning.

John 7:37-38
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

The accompanying scripture, John 7:37–38, shapes the meaning of the scene: "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
In this biblical lens, Empty Room becomes more than documentation—it becomes metaphor. The physical thirst implied by the absence of water contrasts with the promise of spiritual abundance. Though desolate, the space invites the viewer inward, to recognise the subtle flow of grace even in dry places.

This colour edition, a complement to its black and white counterpart Empty Nest, leans into the chromatic detail: sun-washed paint, the minty hue of crumbling plaster, and the warm gold of morning light filtering through broken glass. The photograph was captured on a professional digital system, ensuring fine art print quality with archival depth. Every detail—the curling paint, fine sand ridges, and splintering frame—is rendered with poetic clarity.

Ideal for collectors of African fine art photography, Empty Room offers both aesthetic and theological resonance. It belongs in gallery exhibitions and refined interiors, where conversations extend beyond beauty to the deeper meaning of legacy, loss, and longing.

This is a signed and embossed Open Edition print.

Every collection represents years of exploration, patience and careful craftsmanship. Some photographs are captured digitally, while others originate on traditional photographic film.

Film photographs are developed by hand before being scanned using professional equipment. Digital RAW files receive only careful tonal and colour refinement, preserving the integrity of the original photograph.

Collections are available as either Open Editions or Limited Editions, depending on the artwork.

The Triptych Collection Sizes

Triptych Size Guide

For Triptych Collection artworks, the selected size applies consistently across all three panels.

In compositions where the side panels are portrait and the centre panel is landscape, the selected size refers to the maximum height of the artwork. For example, when A3 is selected, the two portrait side panels are produced to the A3 long dimension, and the centre landscape panel is scaled proportionally to match that same height.

Where all three panels are landscape or all three are portrait, the selected format remains consistent throughout the set — A0 is A0, A1 is A1, A2 is A2 and A3 is A3. Sizes are not mixed between panels.

Available Triptych Collection sizes: A0, A1, A2 and A3.

Limited Editions

Limited Editions are permanently restricted to 25 prints worldwide, regardless of the size or medium selected.

Once the edition has sold out, no additional prints of that artwork will ever be produced.

Signing & Numbering

Every Open and Limited Edition print is individually signed, embossed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Each Limited Edition print is hand-numbered—for example: 10/25

This indicates the tenth print produced from a total edition of twenty-five.

Many CFP Prints artworks begin with traditional photographic film.

Each negative or transparency is developed by hand using carefully selected chemistry before being professionally scanned for printing. Every stage of the workflow is managed with the objective of faithfully reproducing the original photograph rather than digitally transforming it.

Every photograph represents a real moment, captured through experience, patience and light—not artificial intelligence.
