"Regal, Nahoon Estuary, East-London, South Africa" - Captured in a rare moment of poised stillness, "Regal" presents the Brown-hooded Kingfisher as nature’s quiet noble—its slender form commanding attention on a thick, lichen and moss-laden branch that slices diagonally through the frame. Photographed at the Nahoon Estuary in East London, South Africa, this image speaks to the delicate elegance and dignity of a species often overshadowed by its more vividly coloured cousins. Against a pastel wash of blurred foliage and sun-drenched boughs, this solitary bird becomes an emblem of divine provision and instinctive grace.
Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
I was en route to document a nesting pair of Crowned Eagles along the Nahoon River when this moment paused me mid-step. Perched high above the reeds, the kingfisher stood out not because of dramatic motion, but due to its perfect stillness. Its red beak mirrored the tiny crimson sprout just beneath it—an almost painterly detail that brought the entire frame into compositional harmony. Though smaller in scale than its earlier counterpart in In The Hood, the bird’s regal posture and focused gaze were arresting.
The Brown-hooded Kingfisher is one of ten species native to Southern Africa. While kingfishers are commonly associated with rivers and fish, this species prefers terrestrial prey—catching insects, small lizards, and the occasional frog in woodland and savannah habitats. At home in both wild thickets and suburban gardens, it is a bird of quiet confidence and remarkable resilience.
The photograph was taken using a Nikon 800mm f/5.6 lens—perfect for capturing wildlife without intrusion. It allowed me the necessary distance to preserve the moment, and the intimacy to reveal the character and complexity of the subject.
The scripture that inspired "Regal" comes from Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
There’s deep reassurance in the quiet presence of this bird. It doesn’t strive. It waits. And in that waiting, it reflects something profoundly true about trust, presence, and divine care.
This signed and embossed Open Edition fine art print is ideal for collectors with a discerning eye for Africa’s subtler narratives—those found not in the roar of lions, but in the stillness of birds who bear witness to creation’s quieter miracles.

The Collections

Every collection represents years of exploration, patience and careful craftsmanship. Some photographs are captured digitally, while others originate on traditional photographic film.
Film photographs are developed by hand before being scanned using professional equipment. Digital RAW files receive only careful tonal and colour refinement, preserving the integrity of the original photograph.
Collections are available as either Open Editions or Limited Editions, depending on the artwork.
The Triptych Collection Sizes
Your Subtitle Goes Here
Triptych Size Guide
For Triptych Collection artworks, the selected size applies consistently across all three panels.
In compositions where the side panels are portrait and the centre panel is landscape, the selected size refers to the maximum height of the artwork. For example, when A3 is selected, the two portrait side panels are produced to the A3 long dimension, and the centre landscape panel is scaled proportionally to match that same height.
Where all three panels are landscape or all three are portrait, the selected format remains consistent throughout the set — A0 is A0, A1 is A1, A2 is A2 and A3 is A3. Sizes are not mixed between panels.
Available Triptych Collection sizes: A0, A1, A2 and A3.

Limited Editions
Limited Editions are permanently restricted to 25 prints worldwide, regardless of the size or medium selected.
Once the edition has sold out, no additional prints of that artwork will ever be produced.
Signing & Numbering
Every Open and Limited Edition print is individually signed, embossed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Each Limited Edition print is hand-numbered—for example: 10/25
This indicates the tenth print produced from a total edition of twenty-five.
The Photographic Process

Many CFP Prints artworks begin with traditional photographic film.
Each negative or transparency is developed by hand using carefully selected chemistry before being professionally scanned for printing. Every stage of the workflow is managed with the objective of faithfully reproducing the original photograph rather than digitally transforming it.
Every photograph represents a real moment, captured through experience, patience and light—not artificial intelligence.
