The Ghosts From The Past
"The Ghosts From the Past – Cape Agulhas, South Africa" - Where the great oceans meet at Africa’s southernmost edge, nature speaks in wind, wave, and wreckage. The Ghosts From the Past captures a haunting relic of maritime history—the final resting place of the Meisho Maru No. 38—its rusting frame locked in eternal battle with the sea.
Photographed with Nikon professional equipment in the windswept solitude of Cape Agulhas, this striking image immortalises what remains of the ill-fated Japanese fishing vessel that met its end on November 16, 1982. In a rare act of mercy from these treacherous waters, all 17 crew members survived, swimming to safety through the surf. The ship itself, however, was not spared—left behind as a monument to the unforgiving coast that has claimed countless others.
As time moves on, the sea slowly dismantles what remains. The prow, now separated from the main hull, juts defiantly from the rocks, weathered by decades of salt, storm, and sun. It will not remain forever. The Ghosts From the Past is both documentation and elegy—an artist’s last glimpse before nature completes its reclamation.
Acts 27:22-24
And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’
The work is steeped in the quiet gravitas of Acts 27:22–24: "There will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship..."
These words echo across time, aligning with the miraculous survival of the Meisho Maru's crew and offering a poignant contrast between human fragility and the enduring might of the sea. The image itself becomes a meditation on impermanence, divine mercy, and the stories that drift between wreckage and wave.
Shot under shifting light and the constant roar of surf, this photograph is rendered with stunning detail and emotional clarity. Every corroded edge and water-streaked surface tells a tale of survival, surrender, and memory. The precision of Nikon optics brings crisp realism to a scene that borders on the ethereal.
The Ghosts From the Past is available as a signed and embossed Limited Edition print series, in an exclusive collection. Printed on museum-grade archival paper, it is designed for collectors who appreciate narrative-rich imagery and the stark, poetic beauty of Africa’s coastal frontiers.
This is not just a photograph. It is a haunting tribute to what is lost, what endures, and what still whispers from the surf.
This is a signed and embossed Limited Edition print, strictly limited to just 25 pieces, ensuring its exclusivity.

Many CFP Prints artworks begin with traditional photographic film.
Each negative or transparency is developed by hand using carefully selected chemistry before being professionally scanned for printing. Every stage of the workflow is managed with the objective of faithfully reproducing the original photograph rather than digitally transforming it.
Every photograph represents a real moment, captured through experience, patience and light—not artificial intelligence.
