Ghost Station – Living Desert

"Ghost Station - Living Desert, Karas Region, Namibia" - Where the desert meets the horizon in haunting silence, the forgotten outpost of Garub Station emerges like a relic of time itself. Captured during a rare December rainfall in Namibia’s Karas Region, this image reveals a scene both desolate and sacred, where moody skies gather above sun-scorched sand, and the lightest rain carries the weight of remembrance.

Once a vital link in Namibia’s steam-era rail network, Garub Station is now a ghost of its former self, quietly surrendering to the elements as the desert reclaims what was always its own. The zinc roof sighs in the wind, and only two of the original four trees remain—witnesses to the laughter, lives, and movement that once filled this space.

In the distance, a modern electric train hums through the mist, forging its path from Swakopmund. It serves as a quiet counterpoint to the fading structure—motion against stillness, progress against history. This juxtaposition is intentional. It reflects the transient nature of civilisation in the face of timeless wilderness, a theme resonant throughout African landscapes.

Photographed on a 4x5 inch large format camera with a 6x12cm roll film back, this piece was rendered on Kodak Professional Ektar 100—a colour-negative film known for its ultra-vivid palette and exceptional fine-grain detail. The medium elevates the mood: the soft greys of the sky, the desert’s ochres, and the subtle greens from the rain—all rendered with a depth and nuance digital photography cannot replicate.

Deuteronomy 32:10

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

The verse from Deuteronomy 32:10 anchors the image: “He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.”
It speaks to the divine presence even in desolation—how the wilderness, often seen as barren, becomes a sanctuary of revelation and resilience.

Ideal for collectors seeking a piece that blends history, mood, and technical mastery, "Ghost Station - Living Desert" offers more than visual impact—it offers a story worth holding onto.

For the connoisseur seeking something elemental and eternal, this piece is not merely a window into Namibia—it is a witness to the desert, rendered with reverence. "Ghost Station - Living Desert" is offered as a signed and embossed Limited Edition series—a rare, museum-quality print reserved for collectors who appreciate the intersection of craftsmanship, history, and African narrative. It is not merely a photograph—it is a contemplative moment etched in film, an ode to forgotten places and the enduring spirit that inhabits them.

Each print is signed and embossed for authenticity.

This is a signed and embossed Limited Edition print, strictly limited to just 25 pieces, ensuring its exclusivity.

The Collections

Every collection represents years of exploration, patience and careful craftsmanship. Some photographs are captured digitally, while others originate on traditional photographic film.

Film photographs are developed by hand before being scanned using professional equipment. Digital RAW files receive only careful tonal and colour refinement, preserving the integrity of the original photograph.

Collections are available as either Open Editions or Limited Editions, depending on the artwork.

The Triptych Collection Sizes

Triptych Size Guide

For Triptych Collection artworks, the selected size applies consistently across all three panels.

In compositions where the side panels are portrait and the centre panel is landscape, the selected size refers to the maximum height of the artwork. For example, when A3 is selected, the two portrait side panels are produced to the A3 long dimension, and the centre landscape panel is scaled proportionally to match that same height.

Where all three panels are landscape or all three are portrait, the selected format remains consistent throughout the set — A0 is A0, A1 is A1, A2 is A2 and A3 is A3. Sizes are not mixed between panels.

Available Triptych Collection sizes: A0, A1, A2 and A3.

Limited Editions

Limited Editions are permanently restricted to 25 prints worldwide, regardless of the size or medium selected.

Once the edition has sold out, no additional prints of that artwork will ever be produced.

Signing & Numbering

Every Open and Limited Edition print is individually signed, embossed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Each print is hand-numbered—for example: 10/25

This indicates the tenth print produced from a total edition of twenty-five.

Many CFP Prints artworks begin with traditional photographic film.

Each negative or transparency is developed by hand using carefully selected chemistry before being professionally scanned for printing. Every stage of the workflow is managed with the objective of faithfully reproducing the original photograph rather than digitally transforming it.

Every photograph represents a real moment, captured through experience, patience and light—not artificial intelligence.

Every CFP Prints artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA)—a signed and embossed document that formally certifies the originality, provenance, and technical details of the artwork.

Issued with both Limited Edition and Open Edition works, the certificate confirms that the artwork was produced exclusively by CFP Prints using museum-quality archival materials and professional printing standards.

Collectors, galleries, and institutions are encouraged to retain the Certificate of Authenticity with the artwork at all times. It forms an important part of the artwork’s provenance and assists in verifying authenticity for resale, exhibition, insurance, and archival cataloguing.
